CHANDIGARH, Dec 7: Police have booked Regional Passport Officer (RPO) Bhagat Ram for allegedly assaulting a city resident, a few days ago.In his complaint to the police, Bhag Chand, a resident of Sector 29, has alleged that while he was distributing copies of a newspaper near the Sector 34 Passport Office on Monday last, the office security guard took him to the RPO. Police quoted Bhag Chand as saying that he fell while climbing the stairs, and was later kicked by Bhagat Ram.
The RPO reportedly asked him to distribute the newspaper copies elsewhere instead of distributing these in and around the passport office. It was for the second consecutive day that Bhag Chand had gone to distribute the paper there, police sources added. The newspaper reportedly carried some news regarding the RPO. Since the medical report of Bhag Chand found a "mild dislocation", police have registered a case against the RPO under Sections 325 and 323 of the IPC for causing grievous hurt.
