VADODARA, Dec 7: All 18 surviving workers of the recent explosion in the sulphur dioxide plant of the chemical unit Transpek Industry Limited were discharged from SSG Hospital on Monday.Hospital Superintendent Dr Kamal Pathak and Factory Inspectorate Certifying Surgeon Dr S K Verma told Express Newsline that only one person still had a minor eye ailment; the rest had fully recovered.
According to them, since the patient's eyes had been exposed to the poisonous gas for a longer time, the ailment was taking longer to be fully cured.
``Earlier, after having been hit by the toxic gas, he had a vision of six by 18, though, following treatment it has been improved to six by nine'', Dr Pathak said and added that he would be fully cured in the near future.
Company managing director Atul Shroff, who promised the best possible treatment for all those affected, said the plant's four units that had been kept closed following the tragedy would now be opened one by one.
