VADODARA, Dec 7: The Centre for Continuing/Adult Education and Community Services of the M S University will launch five Rural Development Projects in five selected villages in Padra taluka starting with the Dabka village on Tuesday.The projects aim to create awareness regarding vital issues like health, nutrition and the Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) among the rural masses, especially the youth and adolescent. The projects will also focus on providing training for income generation through self-employment and other employment oriented ventures.
A grant of Rs 1.5 lakh has been extended by the Oil and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC), Western Region, towards the projects. ONGC Executive Director N Lal will inaugurate the project at Dabka on Tuesday at 11.30 am.
``The projects form a part of the Golden Jubilee celebration of the MSU and will signify our contribution towards community development and social welfare through the University-Industry Interface programme,'' said Centre Director Kalpana Paralikar.
Discussing the centre's future projects, Paralikar said the Centre planned to organise a National Food Festival by the end of January 1999.
