Woman kills herself
The Varachha police have registered a case of torture against three members of a family after the brother of a woman, who committed suicide, lodged a complaint on Tuesday. According to the complainant, his sister committed suicide as she was physically and mentally tortured by her husband and in-laws as she could not bear children. The police have registered a case against the accused under IPC 306, 498 (a) and 114 in the Varachha police station and are investigating.

Houses burgled
Unidentified people broke into a person's house, located at Umra area of the city, on Sunday night and decamped with cash and valuables worth Rs 4.21 lakhs, the police said. Dinesh Khandelwal told the Umra police that thieves broke into his flat at Dharmayug Society by breaking open the lock and decamped with cash and valuables kept in the cupboard. The police have registered a case under sections 454 and 380 of the IPC although no arrests have been made. In another case of house-breaking, Rs 2.45 in cash as well as gold ornaments worth Rs 1.25 lakhs were stolen by unidentified people from a bungalow on Ghod Dod Road. Harshadbha Patel, a resident of Abhinav Park, lodged a complaint in the Umra police station on Monday.

Brawl
The Salabatpura police have registered a case against two persons, who beat up a man after an argument. Armankhan Pathan, residing in a slum in Bhathena, lodged a complaint that Raja Ismail Diwa and one Kalubhai, his neighbours assaulted him with a stick and knife during the early hours of Monday. According to Pathan, he had gone to the accuseds' house to buy liquor. But an argument followed after the accused refused to give him liquor. They then attacked him and fled, the police added.
