Bill on 5-man CVC introduced in LS
The long-awaited bill for constitution of a five-member Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) to inquire into corruption offences against public servants was introduced in the Lok Sabha yesterday. The bill, introduced by Minister of State for Personnel K M R Janarthanan, seeks to formalise the CVC (amendment) Ordinance issued on October 27.

Indo-US nuke parleys are on, assures Jaswant Singh
Jaswant Singh, who took charge as the new External Affairs Minister on Monday, indicated that the next round of Indo-US talks on non-proliferation issues, slated to be held in January, would proceed as decided earlier by the two sides.

India to clinch key defence deals during Primakov trip
Several accords affirming Indo-Russian cooperation in defence and trade are likely to be signed during the two-day summit between the two countries beginning on December 20, when Russian prime minister Yevgeni Primakov makes his first visit to India.
