MUMBAI, DEC 8: Grace Periera, Fr Agnel Gymkhana's nippy striker, scored her third hat-trick in four matches against Remedy Eves, Borivli, in Agnel's 4-0 win in the WIFA conducted Women's League played at the Karnataka Ground today.
Grace scored the hat-trick in the first 10 minutes. Her co-striker Girja Desai added the fourth goal to the tally.
In another match, Rizvi Sports Club got past Mahatma Sports Club 4-0. For the Andheri team, Kritika Bala, Vaidehi I, Genevieve Fernandes and Diana Fernandes scored a goal each. They were leading 3-0 at the half-time.
In the Rizvi-Mahatma match, Mumtaz Shaikh (33), whose daughter Mahera Shaikh (13) plays for Mahatma SC in mid-field, wore the gloves and stood under the bar when team's regular goalkeeper failed to turn up for the match.
Rizvi started with a strong line-up as Gazala Khan and Fay Menezes were among the first eleven. Both the players have represented Maharastra State team in the Senior Nationals.
Rizvi's defence stood like a wall, thwarting allattacks from Mahatma SC strikers. Fay Menezes being exceptionally good.
Fr Agnel, Vashi, is leading the standings with 12 points from four matches while Orlem, with 10, are placed second with Rizvi (9) close behind. Remedy Eves are fourth with four points while Mahatma and Ryan International, Nerul, are yet to win a match.
