HYDERABAD, DEC 8: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is likely to take action against former Union minister Renuka Chowdary for her outburst against party president and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in an interview to a private TV channel in Delhi a few days ago.
The party leadership has taken a serious view of her derogatory comments against Naidu on the programme. Besides vehemently opposing his policies, she also made fun of his personality, saying he looked like ``a pickpocket at a bus stand''.
Though shocked at her outburst, party leaders are not surprised over her criticism, in view of her strained relationship with Naidu ever since she was denied Rajya Sabha renomination. Indicating stringent action against her, TDP general secretary Lal Jan Basha said today the party disciplinary action committee would look into the matter and take necessary action soon. ``We will not tolerate anyone who criticises the party president,'' he said.
Disciplinary Action Committee chairman Vadde Sobhanadreswara Raoreportedly contacted Naidu, who is currently touring north coastal districts, to discuss the issue. Sources said efforts were on to secure a transcript of the controversial interview.
