Gammon India profits up
MUMBAI: Gammon India has recorded a profit before tax of Rs 5.21 crore and a profit after tax of Rs 3.71 crore for the six months ended September 1998 against Rs 4.17 crore and Rs 2.97 crore respectively in the corresponding period of previous year. The company recorded a turnover of Rs 110.22 crore against Rs 82.51 crore. The order book position exceeds Rs 800 crore as on October 1998. The company is confident that improved turnover and profit will be sustained in the second half of the financial year also.
Samsung India gets SAP Star Award
MUMBAI: Samsung India Electronics Ltd has been awarded the "SAP Star Award" by SAP AG for its implemenation of six modules of SAP across 15 geographical locations in a short span of six months. At an awards presentation ceremony held in Mumbai, C Patra, regional manager, West received the award from Dr Peter Zencke, executive board member, SAP AG and chairman, SAP Asia Pacific, on behalf of the company. Samsung is the onlyconsumner electronics company to have been felicitated at the awards function.
40 cos lose ISO
NEW DELHI: Quality certificates of nearly 40 Indian industries have been withdrawn for failure to adhere to the ISO 9000 norms, World Quality Council chairman Madhav Mehra said. However, the number of defaulting industries is not very high compared to other countries.
