Admission cards despatched
The roll number-cum-admission cards of all the candidates who had applied for appearing in the UGC National Eligibility Test for Lecturership and JRF, to be held on December 27, have been despatched, according to a press release issued by UGC (NET) coordinator V. K. Bansal. Candidates who do not receive their cards by December 19 should contact the office of the coordinator with an application and two attested photographs.Condolence
Gallantry award winners, residing in and around Chandigarh, today expressed grief over the untimely demise of Param Vir Chakra winner, Col. Hoshiar Singh, who passed away on December 6, a statement issued here by the War Decorated of India said.
Reading session
The Department of History organised a reading session by playwright Dr Atamjit of his latest creation Panchnad Ka Paani, a press release issued by department chairman J. S. Dhanki said. The programme was presided over by chairman of the Department of Indian Theatre G. Kumara Verma.
Bills via courier
The Telecom Department has reportedly started sending telephone bills through courier. ``This is being done on an experimental basis. Subscribers should accept them,'' Divisional Engineer (customer service) K. S. Saini said.
Celebrations
The `Customers' Fortnight' is being celebrated by the Sanawar branch of State Bank of Patiala. The celebrations which started from Dec 7 include the visiting of staff members to various rural areas and contacting the customers to make them aware of the range of services.
Blood donation
A blood donation camp was organised by the Indian Revenue Service Ladies Association (IRSLA) here today. About 50 senior officers and staff members of the department donated the blood. Central Excise Commissioner S. S. Jha inaugurated the camp. IRSLA also organised polio vaccination camps at the homeopathic dispensary, and Government Model High School, in Sector 37-C, and Manauli village, where about 1,600 children were vaccinated.
