Training course on agro-techniques ends

HISAR, Dec 8: A two-week training course on agro-techniques in horticultural crops at CCS Haryana Agricultural University ended here today with a note that there was a need to apprise all strata of the farming coummunity of the latest farming techniques.

The course conducted by the Academy of Agricultural Research and Education Management (AAREM) of the university was aimed at englightening the development officers of the state horticulture department about the techniques useful to harness good production of horticultural crops including fruits, flowers and vegetables.

J.L. Dalal, former director, department of agriculture, who was the chief guest on the occasion, distributed certificates to the successful participants of the training. He felt concern for the ignorace prevailing among the farmers about the cultivation practices of fruits and vegetables. He said that even after so much development had taken place in agriculture, the farmers were practising inappropriate methods. Citing the example of the sowing of mushmelons and most of the vegetables being done by the farmers by applying broadcast method, he called upon the horticulture development officers to educate them about the correct cropping practices, so that they could harvest good crops and earn good profit as well.
