VADODARA, Dec 8: More than 50 employees of the Airports Authority of India ghearoed Vadodara senior aerodrome officer N K Sinha on Tuesday morning in an effort to persuade the higher authorities to release various allowances.AAI employees of all grades also held a demonstration demanding immediate release of their payments which, they alleged, were pending for the past several months. However, Sinha managed to pacify the agitating staff and also telephonically apprised V K Kalra, regional executive director at Mumbai, about the stir at Vadodara. Kalra, Sinha told Express Newsline, had promised immediate action in this regard.
A release issued by the AAI Employees Union said that the protest had been staged as a number of their allowances had not been paid for several months, despite pleas and representations.
Union assistant general secretary Balraj Singh, financial secretary H C Khandori, general secretary of the regional unit L J Pathak and the local unit's secretary S P Shrivastava said they would go on a flash strike if the Mumbai authorities delayed their payments further.
