Ambani forum to felicitate exam toppers
The Dhirubhai Ambani Foundation has organised a function on December 10 to felicitate recipients of the `Dhirubhai Ambani SSC Merit Rewards' and the `Dhirubhai Ambani Undergraduate Scholarship'. The function, to be held at Surat People's Bank Hall, Samrudhi building, is honour those SSC and HSC students who have secured first three ranks at the March 1998 examination in each district covered by the Boards of Secondary and Higher Education in Gujarat and Union Territory of Daman, Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and the first 10 students securing highest number of marks in Gujarat. Mayor Savita Sharda will be the chief guest at the function.

Appointed
Former gutter committee chairman of the Surat Municipal Corporation Ranjit Chimana has been appointed member of the National Handicraft Board. The15-member board is headed by Union Textiles Minister Rana.

Blood camp
About 100 people donated blood at a blood donation camp organised by the Lok Adhikar Manch. The camp was inaugurated by Police Commissioner Maniram and DC R M Shah.

Inauguration
Home Minister L K Advani has expressed his inability to come for the inauguration of the Surat Municipal Corporation's indoor stadium. Now, CM Keshubhai Patel will declare it open.

Plea to PC
The Surat Shaher Tazia Committee has urged city Police Commissioner Maniram to allow larri-wallas to open larris at night during Ramzan, beginning December 20. In a memorandum submitted to the police commissioner, the committee appealed that larri owners operating in Zampa Bazaar, Rander, Chowk Bazaar, Sangrampura, Limbayat, Ranitalav be allowed to do business during Ramzan.
