JAKARTA, DEC 9: Fallen former Indonesian president Suharto said today after four hours of interrogation in Jakarta that he was ready for further questioning over alleged corrupt practices during his 32 years of authoritarian rule.In a brief statement after the questioning, 77-year-old Suharto said he answered all queries raised by an interrogators' team from the attorney general's office.
Suharto was being questioned in connection with his alleged fortunes, which many believe to have been amassed illegally during his time in office, and about alleged cronyism. In particular, the attorney general was probing into Indonesia's failed `national car programme', Timor, a company run by Suharto's youngest son `Tommy' Mandalaputra.
Suharto said he `fully supported' the attorney general's effort to clarify information. He told journalists it would not be appropriate to reveal more as he was still undergoing questioning.
``If there is a need for further questions, I have said that I will always be prepared togive more information,'' Suharto said.
The team questioning Suharto consisting of three deputy attorney generals, Antonius Sujata of the special crimes unit, Ramelan from general crimes and Syamsu Jalal from intelligence affairs, and the head of the centre of operations to maintain order, Sudibyo Saleh.
``Our client answered all questions raised in connection to the national car programme and the foundations,'' Assegaf said.
He said it would be up to the attorney general to determine whether the case could be further brought into an investigation, adding that today's questioning was merely to collect information for the background of the issuing of presidential decrees.
