NEW DELHI, December 9: The Delhi High Court has restrained Romesh Sharma, alleged associate of the Dubai-based hitman Dawood Ibrahim, from selling or transferring ownership of his house and land in Mayfair Gardens. The order came yesterday after a petition was filed by Lachhmandas Naraindas Jivnani claiming ownership of the same. While staying any kind of transaction on the property, Justice Dalveer Bhandari issued a notice to Sharma asking him to file a detailed reply to the claims made by the petitioner. In his petition, Jivnani has claimed that he was the owner of the plot and house at Mayfair Gardens. The land, he says, was allotted to him by the Delhi Administration on July 25, 1970 vide a perpetual sub-lease and Sharma was illegally occupying it. The house was constructed by him after he registered the sub-lease with the New Delhi area sub-registrar, the petitioner claimed.
``Sharma is relying on forged and fabricated documents to claim rights over the premises,'' Jivnani said, while apprehending that Sharma will transfer the property to a third party.
