SHIMLA, Dec 9: Former PWD minister and Congress leader J. B. L. Khachi today offered to resign in case anyone could prove that there was regionalism in his area after the Kotgarh firing incident.Reacting to allegations made by BJP MLA Vipan Singh Parmar during question hour in the State Vidhan Sabha today, that people from Kangra were harrassed during the Kotgarh firing incident, Khachi said there was nothing of that kind.
Parwar was seeking to know the outcome of the Malhotra Commission Report constituted in 1990 on the Kotgarh firing incident.
In the written reply, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said nine officers, including police officers, had been held guilty by the commission. On another question relating to the deaths of Dalit women Shakian Devi and Sunita Devi in Kangra, by Congress MLAs Kuldip Kumar and Singhi Ram, the CM said the matter was before the court as the challan was put up in September. The CM also said an amount of Rs. 1.5 lakhs relief, besides another 50,000 from CM relief fund had been given to the kin of deceased.
He added than an inquiry in the matter was going on by the CID crime branch of the police and the guilty would be brought to book.
