VADODARA, Dec 9: The Vadodara Telecom District (VTD) office on Wednesday organised an Open House at Bodeli, Sankheda taluka, to discuss the general problems being faced by telephone subscribers and to invite suggestions for improvement of services in the rural areas of Sankheda, Tilakwada, Naswadi, Pavijetpur, Chhotaudepur and Dabhoi talukas.VTD general manager Rakesh Babu conducted the Open House along with his officers from the planning, administration and accounts sections. MLA from Sankheda Babarbhai Tadvi, and sarpanches from Sankheda, Kosindra, Jambugam were among those who attended the session.
The representatives mainly complained about unsatisfactory performance of the VPTs and also poor performance of trunk lines for rural exchanges at Chhatrali, Dormar, Rangpur and other stations.
Babu, while assuring that the faulty telephone/trunk lines will be attended on priority, expressed difficulty in providing adequate telecom services due to lack of infrastructure, especially land and buildings. He requested the public representatives present at the session to help the department in identifying and making available suitable land and buildings not only in the taluka headquarters but also for smaller exchanges to ensure satisfactory services.
He also requested the gathering to extend their co-operation in identifying responsible persons for the operation of VPTs since attending to their complaints ``was mostly getting delayed due to non-availability of responsible persons at the panchayat office, schools where such telephones had been provided''.
