No such remarks, asserts Laloo

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
Patna, Dec 11: RJD president Laloo Prasad Yadav today defended his wife, Chief Minister Rabri Devi on her reported ``vituperative remarks'' against Governor Sunder Singh Bhandari.

``You know I am languishing in jail and it is difficult for me to have any access to such reports. But to my knowledge she did not make any remarks against Bhandariji....Politicians after all discuss various matters in public.''

He charged BJP-Samata leaders in the state, particularly opposition leader in state assembly S K Modi with having `hurled' abuses against former governor A R Kidwai, which was condemnable.

Laloo also charged Governor Bhandari with making `consistent efforts' to destabilise the Rabri Devi ministry by ``raising hue and cry over the bihar situation."

``Bhandari is consistently making attempts to destabilise Rabri's Government... When the Governor goes to Delhi on a private tour he (Bhandari) makes unnecessary and unwarranted submissions on the Bihar situation,'' he said when approched by mediamen inside civil court premises.

Yadav was brought to the court for production before designated CBI judge S K Lal in a conspiracy angle case of the multicrore fodder scam.

He accused Bhandari of denigrating the prestige of the gubernatorial post and said persons holding top constitutional posts should uphold its dignity and maintain restraint.

``Rabri is an elected representative of the people and enjoys thumping majority in the state assembly... For an appointee like the Governor it is improper to make remarks against a democratically-elected government,'' he said.
