Skipper Dhanraj Pillay struck three goals as India notched up their second successive big win against a weak team, handing out a 7-0 thrashing to neighbours Bangladesh,in a Pool `B' league match of the Asian Games men's hockey event here this evening.India began getting their act together for sterner tests to come against defending champions South Korea and strong China as Pillay lead the way with three goals to boost his tally in the tournament to an impressive seven from two outings.
The Indian skipper scored four goals in the 9-0 win over Singapore in the team's opener. The Indians led 3-0 at half-time against a team of modest ability, taking their time to get into rhythm.
They, however, gave indications of things to come. Baljeet Dhillon making a fine run down the left flank fired but Pillay failed to connect.
The Indian skipper, however, compensated for the miss a little later with a fine reverse flick, off Baljit Singh Saini, to put his team ahead and soon later he struck once more, this time off Dhillon.
Shortly before the breather, Dhillon himself found the Bangladesh net with India's third penalty corner.
Immediately after the change of ends, came the fourth penalty corner and this time Anil Aldrin blasted the ball in to make it 4-0 for the former champions.
A little later, Mohammed Riaz, who also scored once against Singapore, came up with a fine solo for his team's fifth goal.
Riaz then put Pillay through for the mercurial forward's third goal of the match before defender Dilip Tirkey completed the tally with india's fifth penalty corner.
India will next meet China in their penultimate league match on Sunday.
