Tearful adieu to poet Pradeep

MUMBAI, DEC 12: The body of renowned poet Pradeep was consigned to flames at a simple funeral at Vile Parle crematorium in north-west Mumbai here today.Many of the admirers of the poet who had brought tears into the eyes of movie-goers with his soul stirring number Ae Mere Watan Ke Logon, turned up at his funeral.

Among those who were present at the funeral were well-known comedian Johnny Lever and musicians Ravindra Jain and Gulshan Bawra.

Meanwhile, the city Congress Chief, Murli Deora, has condoled the death of the eminent nationalist poet. He was also the recipient of Dr Dadasaheb Phalke award winner.

Describing him as a peoples' poet, he said in a statement today that Pradeep would always be remembered for his inspiring nationalist songs.
