MUMBAI, DEC 13: For the second time in last four days, Deputy Chief Minister Gopinath Munde had a narrow escape from a serious mishap. A taxi collided the minister's car at the Air India junction at Nariman Point on Saturday night. However, no one was injured.According to the Cuffe Parade police, Munde was on his way to his official residence at Malabar Hills at around 8.35 pm when the incident occurred. The taxi (MRK 8197), driven by Arvind Parshu Panvale (42), came at full speed from Netaji Subhash Road (Marine Drive) while crossing the A-I building junction and hit Munde's vehicle.
Police revealed Panvale had jumped the signal and was in an inebriated state. The Cuffe Parade police arrested the taxi driver and produced him before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Usha Iyer at the Esplanade court on Sunday. Panvale was released on a bail of Rs 2000. On December 10, Munde had a narrow escape when the cockpit window of the state government's King aircraft blew off during a flight from Mumbai toKarad in Satara district.
