AMU under no threat: PM

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
New Delhi, December 13: Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee said here on Sunday that there was no threat to the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). He told a delegation of the AMU action committee that peace and normalcy must be restored on campus.

In a memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister, the action committee demanded a CBI probe into the functioning of the university and the removal of Vice-Chancellor Mohmudur Rahman. According to the memorandum, the student community and the staff had lost confidence in the V-C. The fast unto death of two AMU medical students in the Capital entered its thirteenth day today. The students are demanding police action against those responsible for assaulting doctors in AMU last month.
