MSEB to send another notice to Pradhikarann

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
AHMEDNAGAR, Dec 13: The Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB) will Issue another notice to the Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran to suspend its power supply due to the continued failure of the latter to pay the power tariff. The city municipal council, which is supposed to forward the power bill to the Pradhikaran, has yet to send the bill to the water supplying body.

The MSEB has been regularly issuing notices to the Pradhikaran, threatening to cut off its power supply as the municipal council has been unable to make regular payments of the power tariff. As a result, the notices threatening to suspend power supply to the Pradhikaran, which supplies water to the Ahmednagar city, have become a matter of ridicule. At present, the municipal council owes Rs 33 lakh in total arrears to the MSEB.

The municipal council, which is facing financial difficulties, is finding it difficult to pay the power bill on a regular basis. As per the rules, the MSEB officials have to issue the notices whenever the payments are not made in time. Each time the municipal council pays only a part of the total dues and seeks more time to pay the arrears.Despite discussion held with higher authorities in this regard, a permanent solution to this problem has not been found.
