St George, or the dragon?
In a country which does not take kindly to the advice of big money, George Soros has been treated extraordinarily gently this week as he has progressed through the halls of power promoting his book, The Crisis Of Global Capitalism.

"Outsider" the chosen one for Sotheby prize
Sheila Gowda has been chosen as the first winner of the Sotheby's prize for Indian Contemporary Art. The judges, collectors Jehangir Nicholson and Czaee Shah and the honorary director of the National Gallery of Modern Art Dr Saryu Doshi, thought that Gowda, with her work in traditional materials met their conditions perfectly.

Green hotel gives plastic the boot
The only hotel to receive certification from Ecotel, a benchmark for environmentally sensitive hotels across the world, threw open its doors to the public on December 10. The Orchid Hotel, in the making for well over four years, is green all over and from within: from its construction to its usage of products, based on the principle of reduce, recycle and reuse.
