MEERUT, December 14: Seargent Shahzada Khan of the Indian Air Force won the individual championship at the 47th inter-Services golf championship which concluded here today. The team championship was claimed by the Army Red team.Khan scored a card of over 72 holes. Trailing him at 308 was Gopal Singh. The team championship runners-up were Army Green. The third position went to Air Force with the Navy team coming in fourth.
Lauding the winners, Maj Gen Gagan Kumar Verma, General Officer Commanding 22 Infantry Div, said that the Meerut Army golf course has produced some top players including Jyoti Randhawa and promising players like Digvijay Singh, Abhishek Ahlawat and Abhijeet Singh.
Based on the performance of the players at the inter-Services meet, the Services team for national event was announced here. The team: Shahzada Khan, Gopal Singh, Rakesh Kumar, Altaf Khan, RC Nair and N Mageshwaran. Reserves: Jeet Singh and LR Thakur.
