Breath analysers
Taking serious note of the accident at Phugewadi last week, killing two persons and injuring 21, the Pune Municipal Trasnport Committee today decided to purchase six breathing analysers to check whether bus driver was under influence of liquor.Committee chairman told mediapersons that the meeting took serious note of the fact that the bus driver Ramesh Dhoke was found drunk when the mishap occurred.

Lodha said the committee had decided to purchase six breathing analysers which would be put at service at all the six depots of the PMT. Lodha said all the drivers and conductors would have to undergo medical checking by breathing analysers before they took charge of the bus. Lodha said the meeting also decided to undertake surprise checking of all the buses to prevent the accidents.The PMT has already launched departmental inquiry of the driver. The investigation has revealed that driver Ramesh Dhoke was involved in minimum four accidents in the past. It also revealed that Ramesh Dhoke had caused death of a padestrian few years back. Lodha said the medical tests of Dhoke had proved that he was under influence of liquor when the mishap occurred.

Water supply
There will be normal water supply in the eastern parts of the city on Thursday. The proposed cut in the water supply in order to carry out urgent repairs at the Cantonment Water works on December 17 has been cancelled owing to the prolonged power failure on Wednesday, an official statement said.

Nagrik Chetana Manch will be celebrating Vijay Divas on Thursday at 5 p.m. at the War Memorial, Morwada junction. Manch president Sarla Datar has appealed to citizens to participate.
