Hamburg, Dec 20: International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Juan Antonio Samaranch today called for a changed voting procedure for future Olympic host cities and also said the investigation report on recent bribery accusations will be ready by January 23. At the same time further names of those suspected of having accepted bribes or sold votes were thrown into the ring.
Samaranch told Le Matin newspaper the IOC was determined to ``completely clear up'' the case which admitted was `a scandal.' He conceded it won't be easy: ``It practically means to propose to the members that they chop their own head off. It is up to the executive committee to convince the general assembly of the necessity of such a move ,'' he said.
Up to now the entire IOC (currently 115 members) has voted on the host cities. But in the wake of the scandal there have been calls to let the 11-member strong executive board take the vote.
