BJP Govt policies against swadeshi ideals, say RSS

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
HYDERABAD, DEC 20: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) all-India Joint General Secretary Madan Dasji today said that the BJP Government owes an explanation to the people, for pursuing certain policies that go against the swadeshi concept.

Referring to issues like the opening up of Insurance Sector and the cigarette industry for foreign investment, and promotion of iodised salt, Dasji expressed his displeasure over the Centre's decisions.Dasji, who is here to address the two-day meeting of Paschim Andhra Pradesh unit of RSS, told reporters here today that RSS would not however, on its own, launch any agitation against the Vajpayee Government on these issues. But, he made it clear that other members of the Sangh parivar, like Swadeshi Jagaran Manch and Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, would continue to oppose the moves at the Centre.

``The RSS will continue to work for the national construction, irrespective of the political character of the governments at the Centre,'' he said.Asked about the opinion of the RSS onthe BJP-led Government's performance, he evaded a direct reply saying, ``RSS will always give its opinion on the policies and problems affecting the interests of the country.''

To a question about the future course of action by RSS in the wake of BJP defying their swadeshi slogan, he shot back: ``RSS will do nothing. It will be the public who will do everything and the BJP will have to explain their decisions to the public.''
