MUMBAI, DEC 20: The Dani Commission which inquired into Gowari tribals killing at Nagpur in 1994 ``has not indicted any political person,'' leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Council Chhagan Bhujbal today claimed.In a statement issued from Nagpur, where the State Legislature is in session, Bhujbal said that according to his information, the government's Action Taken Report on the commission's report too ``does not name any one.''He alleged that Chief Minister Manohar Joshi ``was trying to somehow implicate Sharad Pawar in the Dani Commission's report, but I have learnt that the BJP opposed his plans.'' n the cabinet meeting.''
It may be recalled that over a hundred Gowari tribals died in stampede during their march to the Council hall at Nagpur in 1994 when Pawar was the Chief Minister.
Bhujbal said he issued the statement after some special reasons were brought to his notice why the reports of Dani Commission as well as Gundewar Commission, which were ready but not yet tabled in thelegislature during the first week of the session.
The Gundewar Commission probed the desecration of B R Ambedkar's statue and subsequent death of 10 Dalits in police firing at Ramabai Nagar in Ghatkopar in Mumbai last year.
Bhujbal also accused Joshi of making `false' statements in both houses of the legislature regarding the two reports as well as on the issue of corruption charges against social welfare minister Baban Gholap.
