CHANDIGARH, Dec 20: Bahujan Samaj Party chief Kanshi Ram today called upon the Bahujan community to unitedly fight to get their rights.While addressing a Balmiki sammelan at the Dadu Majra colony here today, Kanshi Ram said only unity among the Bahujan community would help pave the way for their rule, as they already had a majority population.
The BSP leader also stressed upon the Bahujan masses for educating themselves. He cited the example of B.R. Ambedkar, who even though from their community strived to give a name to the community. He also called upon the people to shun the habit of drugs.
Earlier, the local community raised their problems before their leader. Among the problems cited included difficulties in getting SC/BC certificates besides demanding adequate rights to Balmikis. No action by the local administration on the issue of the death of a local school-going girl Pinky was also raised before the leader.
Earlier, local unit president of the BSP Mata Ram Dhiman highlighted the role played by the local unit in ameliorating the plight of Balmikis in the City. He also highlighted some of the problems faced by the community.
