Crude bomb explosion in N-E Delhi
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, December 20: An explosive device went off near the Hanuman temple in the Jagjit Nagar area of north-east Delhi late last night. Nobody was injured in the incident. The police said that the explosion occurred around 12.15 a.m. after the priest had locked up the temple and retired for the night. ``We received a call about the bomb explosion at the entrance of the temple. But only the glass casing of the idol broke as a result of the blast,'' a Bhajanpura police station official said. With Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee scheduled to visit the district this morning, senior police officials including DCP (north-east) S.B.K. Singh rushed to the spot last night. ``A team from the Central Forensic Sciences Laboratory (CFSL) collected samples from the spot. After preliminary investigations they said that the device was a crude bomb,'' DCP Singh said. Additional police personnel have been deployed in the area as a precautionary measure.
