SURAT, DEC 24: The mystery surrounding the sensational Nita Satbhaya murder case grew more murky on Wednesday, when the two additional police commissioners posted in Surat were transferred out of the city. But no arrests and no other headway was reported in the case four days after the councillor was killed in broad daylight in her Rander residence.ACPs C H Surendra Prasad (range I) and P C Thakur (range II) were transferred away from the city. While Thakur has been posted as DIG (Prisons), Surendra Prasad will take over as ACP (Administration) in Ahmedabad.
Thakur has been replaced by H P Singh, Deputy Inspector-General (Prisons) while Prasad has been replaced by Vipul Vijay, additional police commissioner (administration), Ahmedabad.
Meanwhile, the Crime Branch, which is handling the case, has narrowed down its investigation to three lines. They are reportedly exploring the chances of the builders against whom Satbhaya lodged complaints being responsible for the murder. The second option is theculpability of municipal officials in whose suspensions the councillor may have had a hand. And the third is a nexus between the two groups -- the builders and the suspended officials -- which may have hatched a conspiracy to have her removed.
CID Inspector-General H R Gehlot, meanwhile, has initiated a parallel probe into the matter along with the team that was sent to the city by the Home Ministry, sources said.
The DCB has also made public computer-created images of one suspect based on the description provided by an elderly man. The witness, whose identity is being kept a secret by the police, is said to have been approached by a man asking after Satbhaya's whereabouts a couple of hours before she was murdered.
The DCB team investigating the murder has been strengthened with four more PSIs being deputed to assist Kaneriya.
