False charges of rape: Army sues women in Assam

GUWAHATI, DEC 24: The Army for the first time has filed a defamation law suit against two women in Lower Assam's Nalbari district who alleged that one of them had been raped by an army personnel.A 21 mountain division headquarters press release here today said that the defence force filed a case in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate Nalbari on December 19 after filing a counter FIR with the police. The army and police probes as well as clinical evidence stated that the victim's allegation was ``fabricated and was made because of instigation by vested interests'', the release asserted.
