Crime Watch -- Surat

Tortured for dowry
Mehazabeen Mansoori lodged a complaint with the Limbayat police on Thursday that her husband Saalam Mansoori and four other members of the family have been torturing her physically and mentally. She said that they even threatened to kill her if she did not bring Rs 10,000 from her parents to buy an autorickshaw. The Limbayat police are investigating the case.

Vehicles stolen
Two Hero Honda motorcycles were reported stolen, according to the Athwa Lines police. Laxmikant Bhagat, a resident of Maachhiwad in Nanpura area lodged a complaint that his motorcycle (GJ 5 AC 2575) was stolen from opposite Aman Apartments in the same area. In another case, Prafful Hakani, a resident of Chandradeep Apartments in Gopipura told the police that his Hero Honda (GJ 5 H 7425) was stolen from the parking slot of his apartment during night. Athwa Lines police have registered the cases and the probe is on.

Cheating case
A case of criminal breach of trust has been filed against the driver of a tempo, who is absconding with readymade clothes worth Rs 77,000, was filed with Salabatpura police. The driver was entrusted to transport the clothes. Ashok Mishra, the owner of a shop in Shivshakti market on Ring Road named one Anand Kumar, a resident of Goda village in UP to have absconded with the tempo (GTO 2551) and the clothes. Salabatpura police are investigating the case.

Cash stolen
Vadodara: Thieves have broke open the locks of the main door of two temples in village Ranoli under Jawahar nagar police station on Wednesday night and decamped after stealing cash from donation boxes, according to the police. While cash amount of Rs. 2,000 was stolen from Bhathuji temple, Rs.1500 from Verai Mata temple. Investigations are on.
