Hosts Kurukshetra claimed both the men's and women's titles.

In the men's final, Kurukshetra beat Punjab University, Chandigarh by a 21-19 margin while in the women's final, Kurukshetra defeated Calicut 15-14, pushing the national women players to No. 2 position. Panjabi (Patiala) got the third position after beating Nagpur by a 20-15 margin.

Tension arose in the middle of the men's final match when team members of Punjab University walked out in protest against a decision of the referee. The team members raised slogns against the referee even as there were pro-referee slogans from the pavilion later. The situation was difused when some sports officers pacified the angry players. The match had to be restarted.
