NEW DELHI, December 24: Double-gold medal winner at the Bangkok Asian Games, Jyotirmoyee Sikdar was awarded the Samsung Most Valuable Player award at an impressive ceremony here last night.Dingko Singh, the other contender for the prestigeous award, was in greater demand than the rest of the Asiad crew that had gathered well on time before the rest walked in one by one after the felicitations at Ashok Hotel and Rail Bhavan. The moment Jyotirmoyee stepped in along with Rachita Mistry, the focus shifted to her as TV cameras veered round to stop at the ladies with still cameramen in toe.
Then it was left to the sponsors of the team to take over the stage. Jyotirmoyee, apart from the cheques for her consistence performance, also grabbed four super quality, high-tech Samsung products, which included a 22" Vision Plus television, super grill microwave oven, Hi Fi CD system and a fully automatic washing machine. A special award, a Hi-Fi CD system, was given to Dingko. The awards were given away by Samsung CEO M.S. Yu.
