PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
NEW DELHI, DEC 27: Difference of opinion and "ego clash" between top officials of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) due to "deletion" of two crucial case diaries relating to Rajiv Gandhi assassination probe, had opened a "Pandora's box of troubles" for Central Bureau of I nvestigation last year, former director Joginder Singh has said in his book Inside CBI.This "cost much bad blood among various officers", says the former agency chief in his book. The diaries contained a statement made by one Thomas Charles, described as "an independent witness", who had for the first time identified and singled out `one-eyed Jack' Sivarasan as also being involved in the assassination of prominent Sri Lankan Tamil Leader K Padmanabha in Madras on June 19, 1990.Charles made the statement eight days after Rajiv Gandhi's assassination on May 21, 1991, in which he claimed that his car was "hijacked" by a LTTE hit squad led by `one-eyed Jack' Sivarasan few hours after Padmanabha was killed.
