Heavy fighting erupts in Kosovo

OBRANCA, Dec 27: Serbian police and ethnic Albanian rebels today waged a fierce battle around a guerrilla stronghold, exchanging fire with artillery, mortars and grenades in a fourth day of fighting in northern Kosovo.The ethnic Albanians' Kosovo Information Centre said the clash erupted when Serb forces opened fire on the village of Lapastica the Kosovo Liberation Army stronghold that appears to be the main target of their four-day-old offensive.
