NEW DELHI, DEC 29: The Janata Dal leadership on Tuesday began yet another round of consultations with leaders of its Karnataka unit to resolve the never-ending crisis affecting the J H Patel ministry. However, a change in leadership looks unlikely.About a dozen ministers, on summons from JD president Sharad Yadav, expressed their desire for change in both the government and the party's state unit leadership. They were also asked to suggest alternative names if they felt these changes were necessary. The ministers also responded to questions on a possible reconstitution of the ministry and changes in the bureaucracy.
Chief Minister J H Patel, his deputy Siddaramaiah and State JD chief B L Shankar also held talks with Yadav late on Tuesday evening. Some of the ministers also called on former prime minister H D Deve Gowda, whose two sons have been at the forefront of the ``oust Patel campaign'', and senior leader S R Bommai. A meeting of Patel, Gowda, Bommai and Yadav is likely on Wednesday.
Yadav hadbeen authorised by the JD Legislature party last month to resolve the crisis after holding consultations with key leaders of the State. Much as Gowda would like to see the back of Patel and replace him with someone of his choice, say Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, this possibility does not look too bright.
