CHANDIGARH, Jan 3: The causeway linking the city with S.A.S. Nagar will be formally thrown open to the public on January 10. The box culvert has been under construction for the past three months at the point where the seasonal nullah drain intersects S.A.S. Nagar near Yadavindra Public School. The opening of the bridge would ensure that traffic is not disrupted during the rainy season and also reduce the flow of traffic on the Sectors 45-46 road which leads to the PCA Stadium.
The Municipal Corporation has spent nearly Rs 60 lakh on the 50-feet wide bridge, the protection work on which is underway.
The road had been blocked after the sinking of the culvert following heavy downpour, causing inconvenience to S.A.S. Nagar residents, particularly those living in Phase VII and Sector 70, who had to take a longer route to reach Chandigarh.
