It was the occasion of the Ranji trophy West Zone limited overs match between Mumbai and Maharashtra, and people sat all around the ground applauding the game. However, there was not much for them to cherish as Maharashtra could not give them the wanted victory, especially against the arch rivals.

However, they did get a chance to see international cricketers play, especially from visiting Mumbai, with Samir Dighe, Manoj Joglekar, and Praveen Amre belting the bowlers all over the ground.

``This brings back the good old days when we played inter-collegiate matches,'' said the chairman of the Maharashtra Cricket Association Dynaneshwar Agashe.

The lads running behind the stars, especially Vinod Kambli who was leading the team, and many others brought in a different look of the venue. And on one occasion one spectator ran during the break and got Kambli's autograph and danced his way back before the policemen escorted him out of the playing arena.

Most of the players were obliging and met the needs of the young fans signing their autographs. And, incidentally, apart from Vinod Kambli and to some extent Abey Kuruvilla, many of the autograph hunters had very little knowledge about who the players were, as they prompted ``Oh this is Nilesh, Amre,'' or so on.
