PUNE, Jan 3: Brothers Union could not check Champions Club as the latter scored a comprehensive 6-0 win in the Maharashtra Hockey Association junior league at the Pimpri Chinchwad Muncipal Corporation polygras stadium here today.
In another junior division match VOBA were held to a goalless draw by the stubborn Kids XI. In the senior section Friends Union and Super XI split the points after failing to break the deadlock in the regular time of play, while Pune City Police scored two second half goals against Priyardarshini Sports Centre `A'.
Vishal Puttol was the main strike force for Champions Club as he scored three goals. He netted in the 20th, 24th and 42nd minutes of play. Gitesh Sawant notched up a brace and Vivek Kale chipped in one to round up the rout.
Priyardarshini Sports Centre `A' after holding the spirited charge of Pune City Police till the 48th minute let loose the rivals when their defender Vimal Benedict paid the penalty for obstructing Harish Sapkal in their own striking zone and umpire C B Carriappa awarded the stroke. Harish Sakpal made no mistake with it.
In the 53rd minuteof the game Mark Anthony mde it 2-0 in the Policemen's favour after tapping homefrom the Harish Sakpal's centre.
