ISLAMABAD, Jan 7: Pakistan's controversial military court has sentenced one more Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) activist -- the second such case -- to death as authorities finalised 48 more cases to be sent to such courts whose legality is being looked into by the country's apex court.MQM activist Babar Lodhi was sentenced to death yesterday by the military court in Karachi after he was convicted for the murder of an activist of the rival MQM-Haqiqi faction.
``I am being implicated because I am an activist of MQM,'' Lodhi told the military court as he was sentenced. The prosecution charged Lodhi with kidnapping the MQM-Haqiqi activist whose body was found in a taxi by police.
In other judgements passed by the military courts, which have already been challenged by MQM and hearings of which were scheduled to start at the supreme court today, one person was sentenced to life imprisonment for dacoity and shoot-out with police and three others were sentenced to 10-year rigourous imprisonment forcar-snatching.
