According to a report, the girl, Femina Abdul Hanif Sheikh (13) was involved in an affair for more than a year with Sachin Domaji Gaikwad (17) hailing from the same village and who is a 10th standard student of Public High School at Umred.

The elders of their families were opposed to the affair when they learnt about it and this led the duo to decide to end their lives, the report stated.

Both, Sachin and Femina met last morning and proceeded to the former's old house in the village for executing their pact. Reaching the house, the duo used the girl's dupatta to hang themselves from a beam across the room, the report said.

The incident came to light in the evening when worried members of both the families set out tosearch for them, after they failed to return home. One of the family members peeped into the window of the old house while searching, and found the teenagers hanging from the beam.

Soon, some villagers broke into the room and brought the couple down. By then, Femina had died but Sachin was found to be unconscious and was rushed to the GMC. The Umred police have registered a case in this connection and are investigating.
