3 Rajan gangsters detained

MUMBAI, January 7: The Byculla police detained three Chhota Rajan gangsters under the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Persons Act (MPDA) today. The detained gangsters are Venkatesh Bugga alias Reddy, Santosh Rajendra Singh and Vijay Kedare. They were allegedly involved in serious offences including murder, attempt to murder and extortion in the jurisdiction of various police stations in the city including Oshiwara, Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Marg, Bhoiwada, Borivli, Kala Chowki, Saki Naka, Sahar, Dindoshi, Khar and Kashimira police station of the Thane Rural police.The deputy commissioner of police, zone-III, Sunil Paraskar had submitted a proposal for the trio's detention to the police commissioner, R H Mendonca last month. After their arrest, the gangsters were dispatched to the Nashik Central Jail. Under MPDA, if the detention order goes unchallenged in the high court and ratified by the state government then the detenue serve a year-long incarceration in the jail.
