GEB to complete Rural electrification by March

VADODARA, Jan 7: Energy Minister Kaushik Patel has asked the Gujarat Electricity Board (GEB) to complete rural electrification works earmarked for the financial year 1998-99 by March-end.

He was talking to Board Chairman Nalin Bhatt and other top officers on Thursday.

The Minister said that all works, including that of rural electrification and distribution lines, should be completed on time. Meanwhile, a Board release added that the Wanakbori Thermal Power Station achieved record production of 913.055 million unit in December 1998. This is the highest production achieved from the time the station has been set up. The plant load factor of 97.40 per cent was also the highest.

In another development, the Board recovered fine to the tune of Rs 3 crore from power pilferers in different parts of the State between December 14 and 20, 1998.
