VADODARA, Jan 7: Taxes amounting to about Rs 6.5 lakhs were collected on Thursday following a house and property tax recovery drive by the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) in the Nawa Bazaar, Bhandwada, Shriji Aparment and Harni Road areas of Ward No 2 (B).Busines premises, educational institutions as well as economically backward areas were also raided in the second phase of the tax recovery drive initiated by Municipal Commissioner G R Aloria.
Meanwhile, as many as 400 encroachments along the Subhanpura High Tension Line, Fatehgunj Model Farm, Rhinocerous Circle, Makarpura Road Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation Chaar Rasta and Makarpura Vadsar areas under Ward No 10 of the civic body were removed on Thursday by the ward officers following the direction of Aloria.
