Gilchrist storm washes out Lanka
Adam Gilchrist struck an aggressive 131 to take Australia to victory in their World Series one-day international against Sri Lanka at Sydney yesterday. Set 260 to win, Australia achieved the target in the 47th over for the loss of only two wickets.

Graf rallies past Serena
Former world number one Steffi Graf survived a fightback by Serena Williams to earn a meeting with the other half of the family at the Sydney International tennis tournament yesterday. Graf won the second-round match 6-2, 3-6, 7-5 and next faces Venus Williams in the quarter-finals on Thursday.
