Weekend Retreat/Simi Garewal

Ruchi Sharma
Where in Mumbai does one go for a weekend? Normally, people take off to the countryside, but we have no countryside anywhere close here, and I don't really believe the concept exists,'' says Simi Garewal. ``People who have places close to the beach a little distance from town also avoid going out, I notice. Who would want to drive down & back? It's so tiring!''

Currently, she admits, she's home working on Rendezvous, which comes back on air next month due to public demand. ``That's normally the case, since I work out of home. But the occasional weekend I do get away is usually spent at Alibag. I love going there, because the place is peaceful, calm and serene, and rather cut off from the world. There are no phones, and the people there are friendly and nice. But I manage to get away all of once or twice a year,'' she says ruefully.

Weekends, for Simi Garewal, are no different from any other day of the week. ``There isn't time to do much else, I'm so caught up with work,'' she says.
