GAIL hands over piped gas project

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE  
NEW DELHI, January 15: The recently formed Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) will now carry out piped gas distribution in the city. This was earlier being handled by the Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL).

A joint venture between GAIL, Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) and the Government of the NCT, IGL plans to cover over two lakh households and 2,500 commercial establishments by the year 2003-2004. In the second phase, the company plans to extend this facility to 7.5 lakh households in Delhi.

It also plans to set-up 80 CNG stations in the city.
