Businessman robbed of Rs 1 lakh on railway overbridge

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NAGPUR, Jan 19: A businessman from Bhilai in Madhya Pradesh was waylaid and robbed of Rs one lakh in cash by two unknown miscreants on the overbridge near the railway station here in the wee hours of Monday.

Police said the incident occurred around 5.45 pm when 37-year-old Gopalkrishna Rajaram Tamrakar hired an autorickshaw at Gitanjali squarefor the railway station.

Proceeding along the Cental Avenue, the autorickshaw hit the upward gradient along the railway overbridge when it was intercepted by the miscreants. Before Tamrakar could realise what he was in for, the duo assaulted him with their bare fists and snatched his briefcase containing the cash.

With equal swiftness, the two fled the scene giving little time for the victim to raise an alarm. Later, Tamrakar reported the matter to the Sadar police station following which an offence of robbery was registered. Investigations are on.
